Increasing Condo Density In The Downtown Toronto Core Increases Productivity

As more condos are constructed in the tight space we call the downtown Toronto core south of Bloor to Bathurst, and East to Parliament, there is an interesting phenomena happening. The core is becoming more product as new residents that have made the switch to downtown life, begin to walk and bike to work, rather than drive as they do in Rob Ford's hometown of Etobicoke.

Driving more and more, as Toronto's becomes more and more congested probably won't work for people in the core. It's often you find that people walking downtown can get around much faster than those that drive. This trend will continue and grow more pronounced as more and more people move downtown and the streets and sidewalks become more and more congested with people. However those on two legs will likely have a series of new options for getting around town that will make this the preferred choice for getting around town and to and from work.

Metrolinx, the provincial agency that regulates public transit in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area, is currently working on a funding formula such that it can expand the existing infrastructure within the area, to ease the travel times, which have been ramping up and are now noted to cost the Toronto region something close to 6 to 10 billion dollars per year in lost economic development. While Rob Ford laughs, he has done nothing to assist in the true development in Toronto. City council realizes this and is moving in all areas around this Mayor in order to bring true transit development to Toronto. The transit this city deserves and has not had for so long. Downtown living, walkable living is the way of the future in a city with the extreme productivity that Toronto has and potentially could have.
