Toronto Skyscraper Blog Predicts: Much Bigger Towers in Southcore
I was doing some walking in Southcore Financial Centre yesterday, and I noticed that there are a lot of people walking around. Walking their dogs, walking to work, walking to entertainment, walking to get something to eat, walking to do everything and anything. As more people move into the central core, and the towers get taller, and sellout faster, I was looking for a reason for the popularity of this particular neighbourhood.
Toronto Condo News -
Two Construction projects in Toronto experiment with new scaffolding technology. You might have seen it walking by One Bloor East, or the Ryerson Student Centre building at Yonge and Gould. The project is called Urban Umbrella and was first introduced in New York City, where it had won an international construction competition . The design is intended to maximize sidewalk space and at the same time clean up the appearance of the construction site. A Toronto Councillor had the idea to bring the construction technique to Toronto after seeing it in New York.

New Construction Friendly Pedestrian Friendly Scaffolding
TORONTO - A pedestrian-friendly alternative to clunky wood and metal
scaffolding that turns sidewalks into narrow, dark tunnels around
construction sites is making its Canadian debut.
A pair of Toronto construction projects are said to be the first use
of Urban Umbrella's metal and plastic design outside of New York City.
The new scaffolding — made of recycled steel and resembling an
unfurling umbrella — is being installed on Yonge Street next to the
downtown site of Ryerson University's new student learning centre.
The Urban Umbrella also is being adopted by developer Great Gulf for
its One Bloor condominium project at the corner of Yonge Street and
Bloor Street.
