Wellesley on the Park is about to go in sales, as the
presentation centre is currently under construction. The last condo development
in the nearby vicinity was Yonge and College Condos, also known as YC Condos
just a little bit south, which sold out 80% of the units in the first week.
That impressive feat was partially due to the fact that the developer had
specially create the suites to fit the needs of investors whom were the primary
purchasers of the condos during the grand opening of the centre. YC Condos
(Yonge and College Condos) was developed by Canderel Stoneridge developments
out of Montreal.
The Wellesley on the Park Condo is being developed by
Lanterra, on land that was purchased from the Province of Ontario on land that
was originally supposed to become part of a grand Opera Complex before the
Opera House location was moved south to Queen and University. There were some demands by local residents
for a park on the site, and so a compromise was reached which located the tower
on one portion of the lot and allocated a public park to the remaining share.
In addition the tower has been approved for a
five floor increase and has gone from an originally planned 55 storey tower, to
now a tower of over 60 floors, joining the other height monsters on Yonge
Street, like One Bloor, Aura, Massey Tower, L Tower, FIVE Condos, and YC CondosClick on Image to Englarge:
