Toledo, Ohio's very original steel-framed skyscraper closed its doors during the weekend.
Tenants and businesses in the ten-story Spitzer building on Madison Avenue were forced to move out Sunday, Dec. 1 2013.
Low occupancy coupled with high maintenance expenses and legal battles contributed to decisions to close the building.
The building received no bids when it went up for auction in June.
Since its completion in 1896, it had been a place for thousands of professionals. It had been listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a local landmark.
