HOOPP Commence Construction of Landmark Office Tower in Toronto's Southcore Financial District
Menkes Development and Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) are teaming up for a new landmark development in Southcore called One York.
The Project was designed by Sweeny Sterling Finlayson & Co. Architects, and the 35-storey office will house approximately 800,000 square feet of Triple A office space. The building will be prominent at the northeast corner of York and Harbour Streets, in the Southcore Financial District and will provide an Skywalk link to the Air Canada Centre, accessing Union Station and the PATH network via Maple Leaf Square.
The construction boom in Southcore over the past five years, has created one of the most desirable nodes for new office development in Toronto. Union Station is also undergoing a major revietalization which will see capacity reach 800,000 commuters per day. As more and more people move into downtown Toronto condos, businesses of all types recognize the importance of location, and see it as a cost effective alternative to the Financial District of Bay and King.
Cost of Construction is Estimated at : $375 Million Dollars.
LEED® Platinum certification is being sought
Building Cooling through ENWAVE deep water lake system piped in cold water from Lake Ontario used to cool the building in summer.
