Facts About Hydro-Testing
- The first water introduced into the acrylic tanks of Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada took place on Friday morning, Aug. 10, 2012.
- Hydro-Testing of the 2.84 million litre (750,000 gallon) Shark Lagoon began that morning.
- Testing will continue on all tanks that will eventually be home to 13,500 inhabitants.
- Hydro-Testing is the first step in making sure the acrylic tanks, supporting piping and life support systems have no leaks.
- Water will remain in each tank for up to seven days before being pumped into the next tank for the same testing regimen.
- As each tank passes the leak-test and is drained, the rock work and other theming will begin.
- Each tank will have three individual hydro-tests prior to the fish population being added.
