Just happed to get my hands on a New Rendering for the lands at Yonge and Gould across from the New Ryerson Student Learning Centre that is currently Under Construction. If you all don't remember the Empress Hotel, it is the property owned by the Lalani Group that mysteriously caught fire last year and burned to the ground. The property was at the time sitting vacant and a homeless vagrant got in there and set a fire. He was a pyromaniac? Anyways.. The Lalani Group is planning on building a massive new condo tower on the site, which sits next to the HMV Record Store on Yonge and also include some Group level Retail. Here is a sneak peak at the rendering that they have released through their broker for the propert. The retail component looks to be about 5 floors, which I must say is beefy for this section of Yonge, but does match up well against 10 Dundas East, The Atrium on Bay and the Eaton Centre Malls. Not to mention just up the Street is the Aura and Shops at Aura and it's 5 or 6 level retail podium as well.
