Royal Bank Plaza was built in 1980 and is the headquaters for the Royal Bank of Canada, the largest or second largest bank in Canada, depending on how you value you a bank. It is located at the corner of Front and Bay streets in the heart of the Toronto Financial District. The taller tower rises 41 floors, and a height of 180 meters, the second tower is 26 floors and 114 meters tall. The towers themselves are actually quite unique, due to their colour, what's more unique is how it gets that colour. If I told you that they covered it in a special metal, you might not believe me, but it's true. Royal Bank Plaza may be one of the first towers ever to be coated in Gold. It's windows are in fact covered in very low level gold that cannot be removed from the windows
The towers are covered in 2,500 ounces of gold, at Today's value that would make the coating itself worth something north of $3,000,000 dollars.
