Toronto Skyscraper Construction Takes it Into the Big Leagues of American Cities

With the rapid accession of the Toronto skyline over the past few years, with respect to towers over 200 meters, over 150 meters and over 100 meters, Toronto is rapidly catching, or has passed the Chicago Skyline in significant milestones. Now Toronto doesn't have any supertall over 1000 meter towers, and for it really to put Chicago in the rearview mirror, it will require at least 4 to 5 towers in the 1000 foot range and above.

The good news for Toronto is that we have recently seen the proposals for massive towers which will change the skyline, alter it to the upside and over 1000 feet. Those proposals, include, the Mirvish-Gehry Supertower proposal of Projectcore.

We have also seen Oxford Place, with it's twin tower proposals reaching 1026 feet. In addition word was released this week, that 1 Yonge Might be home to two towers over 90 floors, one of which will be close to 100 storeys tall. Toronto is certainly reaching for another plain, and I'm sure Chicago is looking over their shoulder, wondering just what future proposals we may have that will push Toronto into the next stage of Skyscraper Development.
