Imperial Plaza - Brings Style to St. Clair West

Imperial Plaza by Camrost Felcorp

Imperial Plaza by Camrost Felcorp
Imperial Plaza, is Camrost Felcorp's attempt to bring life back to the old headquarters of Imperial Oil on St. Clair West. To make a long storey short, I'll tell you that not that many years ago this grand building was the headquarters for Imperial Oil, and although they fought it, they could not resist the urge to move with their brethren on masse to Calgary and it's golden paved roads. So we here in Toronto, as usual are left with this hulk of a building and no offices to house in it. So what do we do?

Thankfully, Camrost, has stepped up to the plate and taken the iniative not to let one of the grand buildings of Toronto's Ecomomic Past be left to langish in disrepair. They will now create landmark condos and renovate the entire structure up to 21st century standards. Their project, Imperial Plaza went public last year, and the response has been amazing. As people flock back into the downtown core, to make their commute times a bit more reasonable, the reuse of old buildings is becoming something of an ongoing tread. And Camrost is leading that charge, with this building, and of course their development at Avenue Road and Cumberland, the Yorkville Plazas.

Amenties:

A Majority of the building amenties are located in the lower levels. Including the 20,000 Square foot Imperial Club. This includes the pool complex, hot tubs, and steam rooms. There is also a 10,000 square foot fitness room, and leading edge cardio training equipment.

The Toronto Condo Boom

The boom in the Toronto Condo industry which began slowly in the late 1990's and picked up steam in the early aughts (00's) has transformed the look and feel of the City. Highrises are sprouting from all areas of the city, mainly the downtown core, but other areas, such as Liberty Village, Etobicoke Shores, Scarborough, Mississauga City Centre and North York Centre are also experiencing rapid condo growth and densification. Part of it is the design of the provincial government, which wants to attain maximum efficiency of use out of publicly funded transit such as GO Transit, the TTC and regional lines. Plus heavy investment in infastructure such as the Airport Line, The Eglinton Crosstown LRT Line, as well as the Union Station Renovation project all of which will make getting into and out of the core far easier then ever before. At the same time providing a real lifestyle choice to those that decide they enjoy downtown living.
