Couture Condos and X Condo

Couture Condos and X Condo

I took this picture earlier this summer of two of the best condos ever developed in Toronto. One is X Condo which was developed by Great Gulf Homes, whom will probably be remember best for a project they have not yet completed at the corner of Yonge and Bloor (One Bloor) and Monarch Group which is developing the Couture Condo. The buildings are located on Rogers Way, just south of Bloor and north of Jarvis on the northeastern fringe of the downtown core. The closest subway is probably Sherbourne to the east, and to the west is Yonge and Bloor Subway.

The Buildings - Couture Condos

Couture Condo will rise 44 floors and has panoramic views not only of the downtown core to the south, but also north. It along with X Condos and X Condo 2 are within walking distance of many of Bloor Yorkville's numerous and glamorous attractions, including shopping at Holt Renfrew, the ROM, and the fabulous "Mink Mile" of the Bloor Yorkville Strip. Square footage of the units ranges from 500 to 1000 square feet. The design team on Couture was headed by Mike Niven Interior Design.

The Buildings - X Condo

If you think this building looks familiar, you are probably right, as you've seen it before hiding out in the Financial District at Bay and King. There is no mistaking this minimalist lines so similar to that of the far more famous TD Centre when looking at the X Condos. Although there is no mention of Mies Van Der Rohe on the website, it's obvious where this tower gets its good looks. The building itself soars 44 floors into the air the same as it's neighbours eventual height, and puts it's mark on the neighbourhood in the most subtle and  daring of ways.
